Old Town Dubrovnik Wine Tasting Tour

Nothing better exemplifies Croatia than its wine. Croatian wine symbolizes the beauty of the country as well as its longstanding traditions—many vineyards have been passed down within the same family for generations!

Since the vast majority of Croatian wine is made on a small scale on these family owned estates (and following traditional techniques that haven’t changed much in centuries!), not a lot of Croatian wine is exported, which is why they still remain largely unfamiliar outside our national borders.

Lately, foreign connoisseurs have started realizing there is plenty to explore and enjoy in this East Mediterranean country. Croatia is blessed with a great level of diversity among its different regions—which translate into the country’s cuisine and wine as well.

Dubrovnik’s historic Old Town, one of the most popular Croatian destinations, is a perfect place to get to know the local and national wine scene. Accompanied by our partner, Insider Holidays and their local and internationally certified sommelier, you will enjoy exploring Dubrovnik’s medieval streets as you visit some of its best wine spots and taste the best this area has to offer.

Let our wine expert guide you through the aromas and nuances of Croatian wine until you’ve found your favorite—which we’re sure you will!

The Dalmatian Market Piknik

We love sharing the best food things happening in Dubrovnik, so we invite you to enjoy a one-of-a-kind food experience with our partner Piknik Dubrovnik. It’s the perfect way to round out your holiday, escape the crowds, and sample amazing local food outside a traditional restaurant setting.

Imagine hiking the hills for panoramic views of the city, or exploring the ruins, or lounging in an olive grove—even relaxing on one of Dubrovnik’s excellent beaches—with a tidy, chilled backpack filled with custom-curated selections of cured meats, cheeses, snacks, and handmade treats and specialties. And don’t forget Croatian wines and craft beers and ciders!

It’s a completely new and personalized way to experience Dubrovnik—even the New York Times, Rough Guides, Time Out, and others give it rave reviews.

We’ll help you find the perfect picnic spot, too—or take you on a guided hike and host your picnic in style, if you prefer!

The Mouthwatering Details

Wondering what’s in your Dalmatian Market Piknik? Here’s what you can expect:

  • A chef-curated selection of charcuterie featuring Prsut, the famed Dalmatian cured ham, and Kulen, a spicy Slavonian salami
  • Artisanal cheeses, homemade spreads, and shiny olives
  • Fresh crusty bread, crackers, and delicate pastries
  • Specially chosen sweet and savory treats from the local farmer’s market
  • Homemade desserts and a colorful array of fresh fruit
  • Chilled wine or craft beer or cider
  • A jug of homemade rosehip ginger lemonade

The piknik is packed for two, but we’re happy to add additional selections for a larger group. Individual requests are welcome—we can arrange a more elaborate spread to suit your tastes. Keep in mind, everything is custom-selected and properly chilled, so place your order at least 24 hours in advance. The price pp is 38 Euro.

Wine Lover’s Tour of the Peljesac Peninsula

For thousands of years, the civilizations that lived in what is now known as Croatia have enjoyed the abundant grapes and wine they produce across the coastal country. In Croatia, wine is tied to a long tradition of living off the land in this beautiful, but often harsh landscape.

Join Croatia Food Tours-Sights and Bites as we partner with local wine specialists Insider Holidays for a trip to one of Croatia’s premiere wine-growing regions, tasting the “terroir” that makes this area so special along the way (not to mention enjoying the spectacular scenery!).

Travel along scenic roads through tranquil villages and across hillsides covered with lush vineyards. There you will meet some of the people responsible for bringing top class Croatian wines to the tables of many local and international restaurants and wine establishments.

Accompanying the group will be a sommelier with a true passion for the Peljesac growing region and its wines. This tour includes wine tastings and presentations at two family owned wineries (including a lovely homemade snack at one of them). You will also visit the historic town of Ston, famous for its ancient salt factory and its long defensive walls, which are the largest outside of China.

We look forward to you joining us on this amazing trip through the wonderful Dubrovnik Riviera and learning about the past and present of wine making in the region.
